ECO DAY / NO PENS DAY
Thu 21 May 2026The whole school enjoyed a fantastic Eco Day this week, beginning with an assembly that explained the purpose of the event and encouraged everyone to think about how small actions can help protect our planet; throughout the day pupils took part in a No Pens Day, putting away all writing materials and focusing instead on oracy skills, turn‑taking, active listening and meaningful discussion, while many classes also spent time outdoors appreciating nature; the whole school joined in an Earth‑Saving Hour by switching off lights and non‑essential electronics, giving children a real sense of how energy conservation works in practice; overall it was an excellent day filled with collaboration, curiosity and a shared commitment to caring for our environment.

They used what they heard like birds singing, leaves rustling, and distant noises to inspire their creative ideas. With Laura’s guidance, the pupils felt proud to share their thoughts and express themselves through poetry, making it a memorable and exciting experience for everyone involved.

Year 2 pedestrian training
Fri 08 May 2026Our Year 2 children have been learning about pedestrian safety to help them stay safe near roads. They practised how to stop, look and listen carefully before crossing and learned to always use a safe place to cross, such as a zebra crossing or traffic lights. The children also talked about why it is important to take a step back from the road. As part of their learning, they discovered how wearing a seatbelt keeps them safe in a car by protecting their bodies if the vehicle stops suddenly. The children showed great understanding and are becoming more confident in making safe choices to cross the road.
