School Readiness at Learn Hillingdon (course for parents/ carers)
Mon 29 Jan 2024So, what is school readiness? Well, we see it as a measure of how prepared a child is to succeed in school, cognitively, socially and emotionally. This allows teachers to focus on developing skills and stops young children playing 'catch up', so they can develop their love for school and parents can be confident that their child is coping well with the transition.
Sadly, the last statistical data shows that in Hillingdon 1 in 2 children are 'school ready' compared to Lewisham where about 3 in 4 children are school ready. And the pandemic will not have improved this situation.
So we are offering all parents/ carers of young children, who are about to go to school for the first time a free course, details below:
School Readiness (Online course) 10am to 12pm
Wednesday 28th February to Wednesday 20th March (4 weeks) -Click here for info
School Readiness (Online course) 7pm-9pm
Tuesday 5th March to Tuesday 26th March (4 weeks) - Click here for info
Parents/ carers can enrol here: Course List | ontrack: Learner Hub (tribal-ebs.com) just click on the blue ENROL button. You will then be sent via email all the information they need to attend including the link to the class.

Author Visit by Banji Alexander
Thu 18 Jan 2024On Wednesday 17th January, we were very fortunate to be visited by Banji Alexander, an author who has appeared on Britain’s Got Talent.
The children learned the song he performed on BGT and were very excited to meet him. Banji ran an assembly for Year 1 and Year 2 and spoke about life as author and his breakthrough book ‘Lockdown Looms’, which many children pre-ordered and bought on the day.
As a school, we are very pleased that the children had an opportunity to meet a real author and benefit from such an experience.
