  • Girls' football taster session

    Today the Year 1 girls participated in a football taster session with a coach from QPR football club. They were introduced to the skills needed to play a football match. The children developed an understanding of the importance of controlling the ball with their feet. They learnt how to dribble, pass and stop the ball. A fun filled afternoon!

     

    What did the children say about their session?

     

    Maavisha from Lavender: '"We rolled the ball with our sole."

     

    Aasiyah from Lavender: "We played rock, paper, scissors with our body as a warm up."

  • Hillingdon Personal Best Challenges

    During the Spring term, Minet Infant and Nursery School took part in the Hillingdon Personal Best Challenges. There were different challenges for children to complete each week such as:

    - Squat jumps

    - Hop scotch

    - Step In Step Out

    - Wall Ball 

     

    Children had to complete each challenge as many times as possible within 60 seconds. 

     

    Each week school's in Hillingdon competed for first place which was awarded to the school with the largest number of participating children and Minet secured first place many times.

     

    We also secured first place for the highest participation level over the whole term. Here is the overall leader board:

    1st - Minet 

    2nd - Pinkwell Primary 

    3rd - Ryefield Primary

     

    Well done to the all the children who took part!

  • Hillingdon Easter Holiday Activity and Food Programme

    The Holiday and Food Programme (HAF) is running this Easter at a Young Peoples Centre near you! 

    If you are on free school meals, why not join us for a range of activities this Easter? You will also be provided with a meal each day and it's all free.

    Monday 4th to Thursday 7th April 2022: 

    • Easter Fun - Multi -Activity programme (10:00-14:00) for Children in school years 1-6 at South Ruislip Young Peoples Centre, Victoria Road, South Ruislip HA4 OJE  
    • Musical Theatre Wicked (10:00-14:00) for young people in school years 7-11 at Harlington Young Peoples Centre, Hayes UB3 1PB 
    • Smart Phone Photography (11:00-15:00) for young people in school years 7-11 at Fountain's Mill Young Peoples Centre, 81 High Street, Uxbridge UB8 1JR

  • Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel 2022

    The Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel 2022 is beginning on 21st March and Minet Infant and Nursery is taking part. The challenge lasts for 2 weeks between 21st March and 1st April. For the challenge, we want as many children to travel to school in an active way each day. Active ways can include walking, riding a bike or scooter. If lots of children take part, the school will be entered into a daily prize draw for the chance to win lots of fantastic prizes such as an Extreme Mountain Bike Show. We will also be competing against other schools for a top place on the leader board. Good luck everyone!

    • Describe strategies to encourage two - way interactions between you and your child at home

    Selective Mutism & Reluctant Talkers

    Tuesday 26th April 2022

    4:00 - 5:00pm

    The session will:

    • Explain what selective mutism & reluctant talking is and how it can start

    • Give an overview of strategies and activities that can support your child in and out of school

    • Share sources of further information and support

     

     
    • These are ONLINE workshops delivered on Zoom which is free to use
    • You can join on a phone or laptop but the information is easier to read on a larger screen
    • Parents will be asked to have their microphones and videos off during the presentation
    • Each workshop will have the waiting room enabled. Please wait in the waiting room until the speaker allows you into the meeting.

  • Recognition from the Fairtrade Foundation

    We are really pleased that the hard work of Minet staff in planning, preparing and teaching Fairtrade Day at school has been recognised by the Fairtrade Foundation. We have now been awarded the 2nd award FairActive and children have been enjoying their right to Article 29 of the UNCRC: You have the right to education which tries to develop your personality and abilities as much as possible and encourages you to respect other people’s rights and values and to respect the environment.

  • World Book Day 2022

    Everyone had a fabulous day for World Book Day 2022. Lots of the children and staff came into school dressed as their favourite book character and brought into school the book with the character in. There were lots of story time sessions and there was a special assembly where prizes were given for children with the best costumes.

  • Sensory room trip

    A small group of pupils had the opportunity to visit Heathrow Sensory Gym on Wednesday 2nd March 2022.  They explored the sensory rooms as well as having the opportunity to use some of the larger sensory equipment.  The children had a great time and are looking forward to their next trip.
