  • Year 2 OPAL Playday

    Fri 19 May 2023

It was the year 2 parents/carers OPAL playday today and both children and adults had the opportunity to visit different zones and participate in a range of fun activities.

How you can help the school to improve play for the children!

We ask every parent to bring in 1 item for play to the school to help build our collection of loose parts for the OPAL Primary Programme.

Here are some examples of loose parts that parents/carers could bring in:

    • Large cardboard boxes
    • Old car or bike tyres (washed)
    • Large empty spools (used for wire, chain, rope, etc)
    • Large buckets and containers
    • Wood scraps
    • Old kitchen utensils, baskets, pots, and pans
    • Tarps
    • Fabric scraps (the bigger the better!)
    • Milk crates
    • Crutches
    • Nets
    • Old wagons, and buggies
    • Thick rope
    • Plastic pipes, tubes, or hoses

Thank you, parents/carers, for attending the playday and for your support.

  • Year 1 Parents/carer OPAL Playday

    Fri 12 May 2023

A huge thank you to all the Year 1 parent/carers that came into school today for OPAL Playday. The children and parent/carers thoroughly enjoyed their playtime and it was wonderful to see all the children engrossed in play.  OPAL has been a brilliant project for Minet Infants school and the children have regularly commented on how much fun playtime is, but we have also seen them develop their social skills, co-operation skills and imagination – two of key learning skills.

  • Fostering in Hillingdon

    Tue 09 May 2023

Interested in Fostering for Hillingdon Council?

If you're interested in becoming a foster carer - or know someone who is - Foster Care Fortnight, from 15th to 28th May, is the perfect chance to find out more about it.

Foster Care Fortnight is a national campaign which raises awareness and understanding about fostering and the positive influence it can have on young people's lives. The campaign hopes to build support for fostering, challenge stigma surrounding children in foster care and encourage more people to come forward to foster.

Hillingdon council's fostering team is looking for people who can provide different types of fostering and is encouraging people to consider fostering or raise awareness among family and friends. You can foster short-term or offer a child respite on weekends or during school breaks.

People from all backgrounds can foster, the minimum age is 25, and a spare bedroom is needed for any child fostered over the age of 2. We support and guide you in the fostering role and you receive a generous allowance, among other benefits.

    Want to find out more?

We are holding 2 information sessions at the Civic Centre on:

    • 9th May 2023, from 2-3pm and
    • 16th May 2023, from 5-6 pm

There is no need to book, just come to the Civic Centre Main Reception (High Street, Uxbridge) and you will be shown to the meeting room.  We will present a short program and a foster carer will be in attendance who can answer any questions you may have.

We are also holding 'drop-in' sessions just outside Waitrose in Ruislip on:

    • Friday 19th May and

  • Nursery Farm Visit

    Tue 02 May 2023

As part of our term's theme which is ‘Down on the Farm,’ we had a mobile farm ‘Ark Farm’ come to the nursery to visit us. We got to meet real life animals that you would find on a farm. We met young sheep and learnt they are called lambs. There was a donkey, and rabbits and a lovely friendly dog. We met a pig who was brown with black spots. We also learnt that the goats have horns and that they can feel with them so we had to be gentle if we touched them. It was an amazing experience for all the children and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.
