  • Pedestrian Training

    Mon 31 Jan 2022

    Children in Nursery, Reception and Year 1 recently had the opportunity to participate in Pedestrian training where they learnt all about road safety. They learnt how to 'stop, look, listen and hold hands' before crossing a road at a Zebra crossing. The children also learnt to sing a song about road safety. It was a fun and enjoyable way to learn all about road safety.

  • Specialist Music Lessons

    This half term marks the beginning of specialist music lessons for children in KS1 here at Minet. Music lessons take place every Monday and are provided by a music teacher from Hillingdon Music Hub. This half term, children in Year 2 are learning to play the glockenspiel and in Year 1 children are learning about rhythm. Take a look at the pictures to see what we have been doing in our lessons!

  • After-School Provision

    On the back of our incredibly successful Breakfast Club, we are now excited to launch our After-School Provision straight after half-term.

     

    This provision will be open to any Minet pupil from Reception to Year 6, from 3-5pm, everyday after-school, for just £5 a day.

  • Specialist PE lessons

    This term we have started having music and PE lessons in KS1 which are delivered by specialists in their subject area. In PE children have started their PE lessons with a specialist PE coach. All the children in KS1 are working on ball skills and invasion games this half term. Take a look at the pictures of the Year 1 children in their first PE session with the specialist PE coach this half term where they were learning to move a ball between obstacles. 

  • Florence Nightingale visits Year 2

    Florence Nightingale came to visit the Year 2 children regularly. They travelled back with Florence to Scutari hospital and role-played scenes from her life. The children also learned lots of interesting facts about hospitals and nurses. Take a look at the pictures!

  • Parent/Carer Workshops

    This term, we are launching online workshops for parents/carers.

     

    There will be a workshop each week and each workshop will have a different theme. The aim of these is to provide you with information about what we are doing in school, as well as some ideas to support your children at home.

     

    An overview of the five workshops on offer this half-term has been emailed to you all. They are all on Wednesdays at 1.45pm. As these will be virtual for the time being, there is a Microsoft Teams link besides each meeting.

     

    Our first workshop is about Read, Write, Inc., which is our new Phonics programme, which we started this week. There will be lots of information about how we will be teaching your children to read, how the reading book system will work, as well as support for home.

     

    We look forward to seeing lots of you there!

  • Online courses for parents/ carers provided by Hillingdon Council

    Hillingdon Council have a new programme of 5 week online Family Learning courses including:

    • Help Your Child with Maths, Years 1-2
    • Help Your Child with English, Reception-Year 2
    • ESOL-Improve Your English (E1-E3)
    • Healthy Lifestyles with Healthy Minds

     

    These courses enable parents/ carers to support their children and start week commencing Monday 10th January.

     

    An online briefing session is planned for next Thursday 6th January at 2pm to discuss the 5 week online Family Learning courses (for parents/ carers).
