  MyHealth Asthma & Eczema Workshops 

   

  MyHealth are running Asthma workshops for parents/ carers who have children with Asthma, run by the Hillingdon hospital Asthma team.  During these sessions, you will have a chance to spend time asking questions and learning from the asthma team in a group setting learning about topics such as: 

  • Asthma attacks  
  • Asthma triggers  
  • Inhaler techniques  
  • Asthma action plans

• Building a new future!

  After many years in the planning, the first phase of the building works have began. The first phase is focusing on getting temporary accommodation ready which we will move into when the second phase of the works commence which will be the refurbishment of the infant school. To mark this, children and staff from both the infant and junior schools took part in a ground breaking ceremony with the builders. • Taekwondo Session

  The children really enjoyed their taekwondo taster session. They learnt that Tae means foot/ to kick, Kwon means fist/ to hit and Do means life. The trainer explained that each session starts and ends with a bow.  They also learnt that Taekwondo was about keeping fit and not for hurting  others.

  

• Personal Best Challenges

  Each week at lunchtimes children are being encouraged to take part in the Hillingdon Personal Best Challenges. There is a new challenge for children to take part in week with the challenges so far being Hop Scotch and Around the World. For the Around the World challenge, children had to see how many times they could pass a ball around their waist in 60 seconds. 

   

  The school is competing against others in the borough to see which school has the highest number of children participating in each challenge. So far for both the Hop Scotch and Around the World challenges, Minet Infants has secured 2nd place. 

   

  Next week's challenge is Step In Step Out where children have to step in and step out of a circle as many times as they can in 60 seconds. Let's see if we can get 1st place for the highest number of children taking part!

  

• Animal Handling Experience in Year 1

  This term we have been learning about different animal groups and their diets. What an exciting day we’ve had in Year 1 when  Animals UK came to visit, armed with some amazing animals. So wonderful to see the children (and staff) overcome their fears!

  

• Pedestrian Training

  Children in Nursery, Reception and Year 1 recently had the opportunity to participate in Pedestrian training where they learnt all about road safety. They learnt how to 'stop, look, listen and hold hands' before crossing a road at a Zebra crossing. The children also learnt to sing a song about road safety. It was a fun and enjoyable way to learn all about road safety.

  

• Specialist Music Lessons

  This half term marks the beginning of specialist music lessons for children in KS1 here at Minet. Music lessons take place every Monday and are provided by a music teacher from Hillingdon Music Hub. This half term, children in Year 2 are learning to play the glockenspiel and in Year 1 children are learning about rhythm. • After-School Provision

  On the back of our incredibly successful Breakfast Club, we are now excited to launch our After-School Provision straight after half-term.

   

  This provision will be open to any Minet pupil from Reception to Year 6, from 3-5pm, everyday after-school, for just £5 a day.

• Specialist PE lessons

  This term we have started having music and PE lessons in KS1 which are delivered by specialists in their subject area. In PE children have started their PE lessons with a specialist PE coach. All the children in KS1 are working on ball skills and invasion games this half term. Take a look at the pictures of the Year 1 children in their first PE session with the specialist PE coach this half term where they were learning to move a ball between obstacles.
