Mon 27 Jun 2022Make sure your child is up to date with their vaccinations
Vaccinations provide protection against serious illnesses. Recent news reported the virus which causes polio has been detected in London and there have been confirmed cases of measles in a neighbouring borough. It is important to make sure your child is up to date with their vaccinations. Check your child's red book or contact your GP if you don't think your child has had all their vaccinations. You can find out more about which vaccines are given to children here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/nhs-vaccinations-and-when-to-have-them/

PLANT A TREE FOR THE JUBILEE: BARRATT LONDON PLANTS OVER 600 TREES TO SUSTAINABLY CELEBRATE HRH
Fri 27 May 2022In honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Barratt London has planted 687 trees across its developments in the Capital, including 241 trees at its Hayes Village development on Nestles Avenue in Hayes. The final tree at the development was planted with the help of pupils from Featherstone Primary and Nursery School, and Minet Infant and Nursery School, last week [17th May], as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) which aims to benefit future generations by enhancing and protecting our environment.
The children were on hand to assist with the tree planting for the QGC, which is a project to commemorate Her Majesty’s 70 years of service. The campaign was kickstarted by the Queen and The Prince of Wales over a year ago in March 2021, when the first Jubilee tree was planted in the grounds of Windsor Castle. Since then, a range of individuals and community groups have all been encouraged to “Plant a tree for the Jubilee” which can be logged on the QGC online map where it is publicly available to view.
Mr Thomas, ECO School Leader at Featherstone Primary and Nursery School, commented: “We’re always trying to find different ways to educate our pupils about their environmental impact, the tree planting ceremony has supplied a tangible experience on the benefits of tree planting for future generations. We have brought one pupil from each year group to encourage them to discuss the day with their classmates when they return”.
Mrs Bhambra, Year Group Leader for Year One at Minet Infant and Nursery School, added: “The children were excited to get some time outside in the sunshine to celebrate the Jubilee, which has been a subject we’re learning about in the classroom. It was lovely to be involved in The Queen’s Green Canopy which has benefitted so many areas across the UK.”
To commemorate the 241 trees which were planted at Hayes Village, Barratt London has placed a plaque next to one of the newly planted trees, highlighting to passersby the significance of the tree and its link back to the larger campaign.
