John McDonnell visit
Mon 24 Jun 2024For #WorldEnvironmentDay, after reading Greta and the Giants and being inspired by her message 'No one is too small to make a difference' the Year 2 children wrote a persuasive letter about Climate Change to Rt Hon Mr John McDonnell MP for Hayes and Harlington.
We were honoured to have Mr McDonnell visit the school last week and hear some of the letters the children wrote.
What better way for children to enjoy their right to:
#Article 12-You have the right to give your opinion, and for adults to listen and take it seriously.

Music Appreciation Day
Mon 24 Jun 2024On Thursday 20th June 2024 all children and staff at Minet Infant and Nursery School took part in a Music Appreciation Day.
The day was filled with a variety of activities such as making of musical instruments, learning about British musicians, creating their own music and performing for parents/ carers. School readiness at Learn Hillingdon (course for parents/ carers)
Mon 17 Jun 2024Do you have a young child going to 'big' school for the first time in September?
So, what is school readiness? Well, we see it as a measure of how prepared a child is to succeed in school, cognitively, socially and emotionally. This allows teachers to focus on developing skills and stops young children playing 'catch up,' so they can develop their love for school and parents/ carers can be confident that their child is coping well with the transition. Sadly, the last statistical data shows that in Hillingdon 1 in 2 children are 'school ready' compared to Lewisham where about 3 in 4 children are school ready. And the pandemic will not have improved this situation.
So, Learn Hillingdon are offering all parents/ carers of young children, who are about to go to school for the first time a free course:
CHO1057 - School Readiness (online course)
Starts 25th June 2024 7pm to 9pm - 4 weeks
All parents/ carers need to do is enrol online using the link Course List Course List | ontrack: Learner Hub (tribal-ebs.com) just click on the blue ENROL button.
Once enrolled, parents/ carers will be sent, via email, all the information they need to attend including the link to the online class.
