  • Attendance Winners and the Easter Egg Hunt Attendance Challenge

    Fri 27 Mar 2026

Well done to all our attendance winners. Bronze certificates were given out to children for 100% attendance this half term and silver certificates for children who have achieved 100% for the whole term. All of these children were entered in to an attendance raffle and one lucky winner was drawn from each year group. The Easter Egg Hunt Attendance Challenge also took place this week for all the children who attended school every day during the last week of term. Well done to all of these children and remember to aim for 100% attendance in the Summer term.

  • Year 1 Cricket Taster Session

    Thu 26 Mar 2026

Year 1 took part in a Cricket Taster session where they had the chance to try a mini cricket game in a fun and engaging way. The children took part in batting and fielding just like a real game of cricket. The session encouraged them to  try a new sport and enjoy being part of a team.

  • OPAL Showcase Year 2

    Wed 25 Mar 2026

Today, we were delighted to welcome parents and carers into school for our Year Two OPAL Playday. Families had the chance to hear about our OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) journey before joining their children outside for a full play session. The playground was filled with excitement as children proudly shared their favourite activities, explored new play opportunities, and demonstrated the confidence and creativity they have developed through OPAL.

The event was a fantastic celebration of play, and we were thrilled by the positive feedback from parents—many of whom commented on how much they enjoyed taking part and how valuable it was to see OPAL in action. Several have already asked when we will be running another playday!

Thank you to everyone who attended and to the Minet Infants staff who made the morning such a success. We look forward to continuing our OPAL journey together.

  • The Tiger Who Came to Tea @ Beck Theatre

    Tue 24 Mar 2026

Today, the Reception children enjoyed a magical trip to the Beck Theatre to watch The Tiger Who Came to Tea performed live on stage. The children were thrilled to see the tiger appear and eagerly joined in with the interactive parts of the show. Laughter filled the theatre as the mischievous tiger helped himself to all the tea! Seeing this familiar story brought to life made the experience feel truly special. It was a day full of fun and joyful memories that the children will treasure for a long time.

  • Year 1 OPAL Showcase

    Wed 18 Mar 2026

    Dear Parents/Carers

Wow! What a great morning we had for year 1 OPAL Parent Play showcase. It was a great success and so lovely to see all the parents and Grandparents that could make it.

It gave us an opportunity to show you what OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) looks like. Play takes up 20% of the children’s time at school so it is vital that we make sure that the children have a rich environment to play in. OPAL never ends and we will always be developing the play at Minet Infant and Nursery asking for different donations.

Thank you to everybody that donated some resources. Some are already out on the playground and some we are introducing them to the children in our next OPAL play assembly.

  • Make it Move Mechanism Challenge!

    Mon 16 Mar 2026

Well done to our children who completed the Make It Move Mechanism DT Challenge at William Byrd Primary School last week. They were wonderful and their behaviour was exceptional. It was a joy to see the children transferring and consolidating their learning and  DT skills into practice to design and make their own toy buggy. We will be repeating the experience next year. Like our student, Anastasia said "I was the best day ever".

  • Year 1 Animal Handling Experience

    Mon 16 Mar 2026

Year 1 had an unforgettable experience this week when Animals UK visited and brought along some incredible animal friends. The children were amazed to meet a meerkat, a chameleon, and even a beautiful owl up close. They had the chance to hold and gently feel some of the animals, which made the learning even more exciting. The biggest surprise of all was the snake — it was absolutely huge, and the children were fascinated by its size and smooth scales. It was a brilliant hands‑on session that sparked so much curiosity and confidence.
