Safer Internet Showcase
This week, our Year 1 and Year 2 children proudly celebrated Safer Internet Day, with a special focus on the theme of AI safety. It was a fantastic opportunity for our youngest learners to begin understanding how to use technology in a safe, responsible and positive way.
The week began with a whole-school assembly where children were introduced to the idea of artificial intelligence and how it is used in technology we see every day. The discussion focused on how AI can be helpful, but also reminded children that it is important to use all technology safely and to always ask for help if they are unsure about something online. The children engaged brilliantly, sharing their ideas about the devices they use at home and school.
We were also delighted to welcome parents/ carers into school for an online safety talk. Parents/ carers had the opportunity to watch an online safety lesson in action and learn more about how we teach children to stay safe in a digital world. It was wonderful to see such strong support from our school community.
In class, pupils took part in an online safety lesson where they learned our special acronym: C.L.I.C.K. This simple and memorable message helps children make safe choices online:
C – Check with an adult
L – Look out for strangers
I – Information is private
C – Choose kindness
K – Keep safe
Through stories, discussions and activities, the children explored what each part of C.L.I.C.K. means and how they can apply it when using tablets, computers or other devices. They showed great understanding, knowing that not everything online is true and that safe adults are there to help them.
Together, we are committed to helping our children become safe, confident and responsible digital citizens.
