Year 1 Toy Workshop
This week, our Year 1 children enjoyed a wonderful learning experience when Chertsey Museum visited our school to lead a special workshop all about toys from the past.
The children were fascinated as they explored a range of old and new toys, discovering how playtime has changed over the years. They loved handling real historical toys and comparing them with the ones they play with today. From spinning tops and cup-and-ball games to teddy bears and clockwork animals, every item sparked curiosity and excitement.
Our pupils asked thoughtful questions, shared their own experiences, and were eager to learn about the materials, mechanisms, and history behind each toy. The hands-on activities were a particular highlight, giving the children a chance to explore and play just like children would have many years ago.
The visit brought our topic to life and helped deepen the children’s understanding of how toys have developed over time. A huge thank-you to Chertsey Museum for such an engaging and memorable workshop!
