A special welcome as we start our Autumn Term and we hope you all had an enjoyable summer.
The children have all settled back wonderfully – especially those who are starting school here at Minet for the very first time!
In Nursery we wish to welcome back our existing children and we can see that they are eager to return with a lot more confidence. They are great role models for our new children. The first few weeks are very much a settling in process and if you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to talk to your child’s Key Person or the class teachers, Miss Hunt (Poppy) or Ms Harrison (Daisy).
Also do remember our Miss Dowling is now Mrs Rossiter after her Wedding in August!
New Awards at Minet
We are very proud to announce that we have achieved two new awards here at Minet. We are now a Gold Sing Up School and also a school that is officially recognised as providing Good Diabetes Care.
Sing Up Gold As you know we value music and especially singing very highly. It is not only emotionally uplifting but also enables our children to recognise vocal patterns in a fun and enjoyable way. Last year we enjoyed a very successful musical year where our choir participated in The Festival of Choirs, receiving feedback from real opera singers! We competed in Hillingdon Picture Book of the year and won 2nd place! We also enjoyed learning new songs and getting involved in singing activities across the school.
We are delighted to achieve this next award as it recognises our work to ensure all our children can access the curriculum we offer, every school day. The Diabetes UK award gives a recognition to parents of children with diabetes, particularly Type 1, that they can be confident about our management of medical conditions such as this. It shows we have the competence within our staff to support their child. Living with Diabetes can be difficult but hopefully together we can enable your child to have an enjoyable and safe school experience.

Summer Reading Challenge
Last week children in Year 1 and Year 2 celebrated the wonderful achievement of our Summer holiday readers who took part in this years Animal Agents reading challenge. Children proudly showed off their certificates and medals having visited the local library six times and read a wide range of exciting books. We heard all about some of the stories that the children had enjoyed such as “scary books” and stories about “marshmallows that came to life!”
Please do take your child to the local library where they can borrow a fantastic range of books to share with you.
Trip to London
On Wednesday 20th September, Year 2 went on a trip to see some of the famous landmarks of London. As well as the year 2 focus being “What Makes London Great?” this trip also offered a valuable new perspective outside of the classroom and a chance to experience the sights, sounds, hustle and bustle of a major global city. All the children have thoroughly enjoyed spending the day in London and we are looking forward to reading their recounts of the day.
