Year One

An Inclusive School

It's an all inclusive, welcoming school. I've got three little boys who love it here and so do I.

Mr Eldaw

I am delighted with the progress that my daughters have made at Minet – you have nurtured them to achieve excellent progress in key learning areas such as reading and maths.

We aim to make the transition from EYFS to Key Stage 1 as smooth as possible, so when the children begin Year 1, their teachers know exactly how to develop and challenge their learning.

Each classroom has an outside area, similar to Nursery and Reception, and we aim to utilise these as much as possible, since lots of the learning is practical and centred around real resources.

Reading, Writing and Mathematics form the main focus of the curriculum and we have daily focussed lessons in the mornings. In the afternoons, we adopt a cross-curricular approach through a range of exciting topics such as ‘Where does our Queen live?’ and ‘What makes me unique?’.

The children study a variety of curriculum areas, including Science, Art, Design and Technology, RE, Music, History, Geography, PSHE and ICT in a way that is challenging and motivating. Children also have daily Phonics lessons and PE lessons twice a week.

Below are some educational websites that you may wish to use with your children over the summer holidays:
