A Royal Wedding
Last Thursday we had a whole school picnic in the sun, ready for the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Megan. The children chose a very special wedding lunch which they carried out to the field ready to celebrate together! It was a great opportunity to learn about our British culture and the children have really enjoyed watching parts of the wedding this week.
The Nursery children were transformed into princes and princesses in celebration of the royal wedding. Children decorated their own crowns and made jam sandwiches for a picnic in the garden. The royal themed picnic was enjoyed by all with the accompaniment of the children’s jam sandwiches, cakes and fruit in the glorious spring sunshine.
Life Bus visit
Last week Minet Infant and Junior School had a visit from the Life Bus. The Life Bus is a mobile classroom that regularly visits schools in Hillingdon to support children’s learning about PSHE. Every class in the school spent time on the Life Bus and had lessons about a range of topics. Children learnt how their hearts, lungs and stomachs work and the importance of healthy eating and exercise. They also got to meet Harold the giraffe, who taught them about feelings with his friends Kiki the kangaroo and Derek the penguin. All of the children clearly enjoyed their visit to the bus and some have written wonderful thank you letters.
Year 1 visit look for Paddington Bear….
Our Year 1 topic this half term was, ‘How can we go on a Journey?’ The children experienced their own train journey. We walked to Hayes and Harlington Station where we caught a train into the famous Paddington Station and found Paddington Bear. The children had a lovely time and it was a wonderful experience! Parmeet from Lavender Class said, ‘this is WOW!, the train is so fast.’
Year 2 recorder concert
The year 2 children enjoyed sharing their musical talents with their parents and carers earlier this month! The recorder concert was a huge success and it really showcased how talented our children are at Minet. The children have been working hard to learn a variety of songs and notes as well as improving their musical knowledge. It was clear to see that they have all enjoyed their Recorder lessons, both in Year 1 and Year 2. To have all four classes perform together was a great achievement and they made us all feel extremely proud! The children also enjoyed singing some of their favourite songs and we hope that the audience enjoyed listening too. A big thank you to everyone that came and supported the children.
Rights Respecting News
This month our Rights Respecting Focus was:
You have the right to be protected from being hurt and mistreated, in body or mind.
In assembly we talked about how important it is to use kind hands and words to make sure that we do not hurt each other. At Minet Infant school we are very good at saying ‘Stop it! I don’t like it’ and telling an adult when we are feeling sad.
