July at Minet

We are very sad to say goodbye to our wonderful year 2 children. They have made us proud as we have watched them grow and mature into the fabulous year group they are today. They performed a final, emotional farewell assembly on Tuesday and we will all remember their amazing rendition of ‘The Climb’.

Thank you Year 2 for being such a vibrant group who have made us and your parents / carers proud . You have excelled in your learning and given us many special moments here at Minet Infant School.

Goodbye Year 2!

Nursery Celebration of Learning

Thank you to all the parents , grandparents and carers who attended our Nursery Celebration of Learning Assembly, the children were just brilliant when they were singing, acting and speaking in front of a large audience. With pizza and cakes made by the children the celebrations continued. The children ate and danced happily with their friends whilst parents met other parents.  As a school we were all very proud of how our children have grown into independent and confident learners. We wish you all a great and safe summer holiday and good luck with children moving to new schools closer to their homes. Thank you for all your continuous support and see you in  September.

Sports Day 2017

I think we all can agree that Minet Infant and Nursery School have some future athletes!

Our annual Sports Days were a joyous and energetic celebration of sport across the school.

All of the children came to school excited and ready to participate in a range of sporting games. They showed determination and skill in all activities and

performed to the best of their ability. The activities tested the children’s accuracy, skill and speed and it was great to see our children happily give 100% throughout the games. We saw children from Reception and KS1 cheering and supporting their friends, which shows that they have developed the skills needed to work successfully in a team.

The sun was blazing, smiles were beaming and the music was blasting, which were all the ingredients needed for a fantastic sporting event! Thank you to all the parents and carers that supported our day and joined in with the fun too, as this made the event even more exciting!

By the end of morning, the children, teachers and parents left the field cheering and singing with confidence, eagerly awaiting Sports Day 2018!

ZooLab visits Year 1 classrooms!

As part of their learning for our topic. ‘ What Do Animals Eat?’ the children had a visit from Zoolab. Hannah brought some amazing animals (including a snake) for the children to see, touch and feel. The children were very excited and brave! They now have a better insight of what animals eat and food chains.

Bailey from Lavender Class said ’I liked touching and feeling all the animals. The snail was massive! The best was the snake and I’m not scared of them anymore.’

Rights Respecting Schools

We had our last steering group meeting to review the success of the Woodland Area and Ambassadors agreed on a new name as ‘Minet Nature Garden’The Ambassadors thought of a charter for the use of our Nature Garden which has these rules:

  • Keep our nature garden tidy.
  • Look after our plants.
  • Walk in our garden.
  • Use quiet voices and be friendly.

Our next project is to focus on our dinner hall to make it a more enjoyable time during lunch! We are looking forward to welcoming our new Reception Ambassadors in Autumn 2017.
