An Inclusive School

It's an all inclusive, welcoming school. I've got three little boys who love it here and so do I.

Nursery

Our Nursery has capacity for up to 120 pupils (60 in the morning and 60 in the afternoon). We operate a two year curriculum cycle as some of our children enter Nursery after their third birthday and may remain for over three terms.

Each child will be assigned a key worker, who will be the first point of contact for the child and their family.

Child-initiated learning forms a large part of our day and involves children following their interests, exploring the engaging environment and being supported in their learning by the teaching staff.

The Nursery curriculum is broken down into seven main areas, which are explained in more detail here.

We compile a Learning Journey which celebrates and tracks each child’s unique experiences. Over time it tells the story about your child’s learning, friends and their experiences with other children and adults. Our staff observe and notice each child as they play and engage with their environment. This helps us to support their individual interests, develop their wellbeing and encourage them to deepen and broaden their learning.

During Nursery we introduce children to Phase 1 Phonics and use ‘Letters & Sounds’ as our principle scheme.

Reception

Throughout the Reception year, we continue to learn through the seven areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

This helps us to support their individual interests, develop their wellbeing and encourage them to deepen and broaden their learning.

We move onto Phase 2 and beyond in Phonics (still using the ‘Letters & Sounds’ scheme) and begin to teach children the sounds different graphemes make.

Working with families in hugely important to us and we run several parental workshops through the year on supporting your child through the EYFS, as well as in Phonics & mathematics.

Windsor Castle

Year One

In Year One each classroom has an individual outdoor area which is utilised to provide a smooth transition from Reception for the children. The emphasis remains on active learning whether indoor or out as the children learn through a cross-curricular approach. This year we studied ‘Who lives in Windsor Castle?’ and when the children visited the castle they were able to identify some of the key features!

Year 2 talk partners

Year Two

We continue the focus on engaging and active learning throughout Year Two and also offer a number of parental meetings and workshops. These keep parents informed of the latest Government requirements and provide top tips to keep your child motivated. We continue reading with Bug Club and real books  (colour coded to ensure suitability ) which give the children exposure to new experiences they may not otherwise encounter.
