Going to the Zoo!
As part of our topic about the author Eric Carle, who wrote a lot of books about animals, Reception had the great opportunity of visiting London Zoo. We set off on our coaches to London and had a brilliant time walking around and spotting lots of different animals. There were many animals to see including: Monkeys, Tigers, Hippos, Zebras and Penguins.
We had a fabulous time and would like to say a big thank you to the parents who helped us. You were brilliant.
The children represented our school fabulously with their fantastic behaviour. Well done!!!
I liked the Giraffes because they had a long neck and a very long tongue to stretch for the leaves to eat from the tree. Sara from Snowdrop.
This half term the life bus visited Minet and the classes climbed aboard to meet Susan and Harold the Giraffe. Susan helped us learn all about ourselves, our muscles and what our bodies need to live on Planet Earth. We were then introduced to Harold the Giraffe, who was visiting his grandparents for the weekend. Harold showed us how important it is to exercise, sleep and eat healthy food. He even phoned us to see if we could help cheer him up when he was missing home. The life bus was an exciting, interactive opportunity for all the children to share their ideas and learn about staying healthy and happy.
A testing time!
We are extremely proud of all our Year 2 pupils who have now completed their SATs tests. The children have worked hard and shown a positive attitude throughout. They have all done their very best and a thank you to parents and carers for supporting your children (and teacher!) with their learning.
Next it is Year 1 who will be undertaking the annual phonics screening after half term. Do remember to have a good sleep and breakfast and then show us how well you know all your letter sounds!
The final part of our new reporting system will be shared with you at the end of this term, alongside the children’s final assessment results.
Pets as Therapy
This half term we had a special visitor in reception. Maddie, Miss Longson’s puppy, came to visit us! She had a wonderful time getting to know the children and listening to them read. She even spent some time in our garden, but was very sleepy at home time. We can’t wait to see Maddie again soon and share some more stories with her. FOMISA (Friends of Minet Infant School Association)
have had fun this month choosing lots of lovely new books for us. A team of volunteers came into school last Friday morning and organised all the books into packs. We can’t wait to read them and some of the guided reading packs have DVD’s of the story as well! Thank you very much everyone who has contributed to this popular and helpful gift.
Farewell to Mr Nutchey
We know you will join us in wishing Mr Nutchey, our Business Manager a long and happy retirement.
