Healthy Schools

An Inclusive School

It's an all inclusive, welcoming school. I've got three little boys who love it here and so do I.

I have chosen the best school for my child. This year we have seen many changes and there is a warm welcome for all parents. I am a hundred percent happy!

Relationships between pupils and teachers are strong.

Minet Infant School is genuinely a warm, friendly education environment.

I am delighted with the progress that my daughters have made at Minet - you have nurtured them to achieve excellent progress in key learning areas such as reading and maths.

Good Health for our whole community

As many of you are aware we have been encouraging the adults (parents and carers) of our community to join in with our fitness campaign. This term we are offering women only Zumba classes on Wednesday mornings from 9am to 10am, followed by a heathy eating workshop. Well done to so many of you who have attended – the numbers are slowly creeping up!

In the spring term we will be continuing to offer women only Zumba classes which will be in our school hall with a female instructor. There will be a small cost to this and all the money collected will be going towards paying for the instructor. This is an amazing opportunity as Zumba is becoming an expensive session to attend, the cost of our sessions will be considerably cheaper than attending other sessions.

Our Zumba sessions are aimed at any women who want to come and dance, have some fun, become healthier and make some new friends.

Walking football logo

Also on Wednesday mornings we offer Walking football for men. This has  proved very popular. Do look at the video below – some very fast walking we fear!

The session is aimed at men of all ages and all abilities; whether you play football regularly or have not played in many years, everyone is welcome.

Our PE Teaching Assistant Mr Rossiter oversees all these events and has liaised with QPR Primary Stars to  develop these engaging and innovative approaches to improving the heath and fitness of our community.

We have also been encouraging our pupils to Walk to School, or cycle or scoot!

This has proved so popular that we now have to increase our bike parking facilities!

We would be interested to hear from parents who have any ideas of how we can provide you with more help making your families healthier. We have parents and children sessions beginning after Christmas, so please keep a look out for any information in your children’s bookbags.
