 and Virtual Reality

Key Stage One were all very excited on Friday when we had a special visit from Google. After a short training session the staff were able to lead the children on experiences related to the different topics we are studying. The children had the opportunity to wear virtual reality goggles from Google and be transported to another environment! Some went to beaches in Hawaii and others up into space.

Our children will be leaving university around 2030 and the new and innovative technologies of today may be daily features of their future world. Perhaps they will be the creators of future VR experiences?

Pedestrian Road Safety Training

This month all of our children have been taking part in road safety training and it has been a huge success. Year 2 were practising crossing the road outside of the school and Year 1, Reception and Nursery were practising inside the hall.

The key points were shown and demonstrated by our road safety trainers;

“STOP, LOOK, LISTEN and HOLD HANDS”

These skills are crucial to your children crossing roads sensibly and most importantly keeping safe at all times.

Please reinforce these safety rules at all times and take care with your children crossing roads.

We are so pleased to have earned our ‘Recognition of Commitment’ for the Rights Respecting School Award. We are now starting our journey towards achieving Level One.

As part of the award our steering group looked at article number 29

‘Education should teach children and young people to protect the environment’.

We brainstormed ideas for improving the nature area at the back of Maple playground. Our Ambassadors were keen and enthusiastic to tidy the area for classes to use during the Summer term.

We also discussed a wish list to make the area even more appealing and Mrs Veale was so impressed with the Ambassador’s ideas she has given us a budget to spend!

Walking Football

The school have been lucky enough to build a relationship with the Middlesex Football Association who help to promote football in the area of Middlesex. Our walking football session is aimed at giving Dads and Granddads a chance to play football for free.

We will be running these sessions every Thursday morning at 9.00am until 10.00am, and we hope lots of you join us in the future.
